IN CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Elsa of Arendelle
Canon: Frozen (2013)
OU/AU/OC: OU
Canon Point: Just after the confrontation with Anna in the ice palace
History:
Right here!
Personality:
In her early years, Princess Elsa was a loving, warm, and creative older sister. She took pure joy in the use of her unusual ice powers, happy to entertain her baby sister Anna whenever the mood struck. In those days, her powers were the source of many sisterly bonding moments...they could sled, fight, build snowmen. It almost seemed that nothing was impossible.

Everything changed when Elsa accidentally froze Anna's head. Fear of losing Anna took over, leading Elsa to cower behind her parents as they sought a cure for the younger princess. The cure came with a heavy price: all memory of Elsa's powers would have to be removed from Anna, and the secret would have to stay hidden. This decision would come to define Elsa's entire existence.

The King and Queen took extreme measures to keep their daughters safe. The kingdom's gates were closed, Anna and Elsa were separated as much as possible, and Elsa was taught to avoid contact with others except when necessary. This created a terribly lonely childhood for both girls, but Elsa's loneliness was paired with fear of her powers. As the older princess grew, her powers grew with her. At some point, she required gloves to keep herself from freezing anything and everything she touched. She couldn't even hug her family for fear of hurting them. Any situations with crowds would make her nervous. There were too many opportunities for things to go wrong.

Still, Elsa bore her responsibilities admirably. She never ran from her royal training, no matter how scared she was of being around so many people. She never broke down and told Anna the truth, no matter how much it hurt her to shut her sister out. And she refused to bless Anna's engagement to a strange new prince---Anna was being irresponsible, understandably so, but Elsa needed to protect her.

It was only after the revelation of her powers that Elsa fled. Feeling that she had nothing left to lose, Elsa liberated herself. She unleashed the full force of her powers for the first time since childhood, inadvertently casting an eternal winter upon the kingdom. She ran, feeling free...but even in that state, she couldn't abandon her past entirely.

When Anna came calling, Elsa remained as committed to protecting her sister as possible. She warned Anna that she wasn't safe and tried to reassure her that it was better this way...but Anna knew that Elsa had an eternal winter to thaw, and no matter what, Anna had faith that Elsa could do it. Elsa's fear won out again, unfortunately, and this time she froze Anna's heart---though the snow queen didn't yet know what she had done.

Strengths:
*Elsa has powers of ice. They're toned down, of course, so as not to place Ponyville in an eternal winter, but she can create snowball-sized objects and coat objects with a slowly spreading sheet of ice upon contact. She's skilled at using this power defensively.
*She can think on her feet in battle, and she understands how to use her powers in creative way.
*She has a strong will to do the right thing, no matter what it will cost her.
*As someone with extensive royal training, she has some textual knowledge about leadership.

Weaknesses:
*Elsa has very little social experience and will be frightened and shy in large crowds of people. She's not as trusting as her younger sister, but she can still be led astray because she doesn't have much experience with true friendship.
*When her fear of hurting other people or failing to control her powers is brought to the forefront, she won't be able to act. She'll freeze up.
*That, or she'll run away from problems when she fears she can't solve them, avoiding rather than communicating. This caused a huge rift in her relationship with her sister---though much of that was based on her parents' orders, it will probably be a hard habit to break.

First Person:

[A new pony with a pale mane and brilliant blue hide appears on the screen, her face firmly set to neutral. She's in an isolated area, the wall behind her coated blue with ice.]

Hello...everypony. My name is Elsa and I'm a new arrival in this kingdom of yours, but I'm afraid I won't be coming back to town. I'm only using this scroll to give you a warning.

I've made a home in an abandoned corner at the mountain's base. My cottage is covered in snow and ice, no matter how warm it gets, and that means you need to stay away from it. It's not safe for any other pony to be around me.

I'll keep browsing the scroll writings, though. I won't be going home when all of this ends, but I'd like to check on my old kingdom if you ever find a way. And if you find any news about a kingdom called Arendelle, please let me know.

Third Person:

There was a new pony in town, and she didn't look entirely happy to be there. She took tentative steps through a crowded marketplace, crossing her hooves to edge away from others when they came too close. She definitely remembered the last time she was in a crowd this large...and that didn't end well at all.

But she mustn't let that fear control her. Her fear started the whole disaster in the first place. Focus, Elsa.

She lifted her head to scan the faces in the crowd, lingering for an extra moment on those with horns. Unicorns. Other citizens with magical powers. Here, Elsa wasn't the only one with strange magic. And it didn't sound like disasters happened every day.

Equestria had magical training for its unicorns, she'd learned. Here, young fillies with powers were taught to control them, and it certainly didn't sound like any curses had gotten out of control. All the adult unicorns here seemed to be well-adjusted. That meant the teachers were good enough to help Elsa, right?

Or maybe not, she thought, staring at a hoof. It could be possible that Elsa's curse was different from the other unicorn's magic. What if she was the only one who couldn't control herself? What if Equestria was about to freeze too? At that thought, her hooves really started to shake, enough that she was getting odd looks.

"I'm sorry," Elsa said to the staring ponies, locking her joints and forcing herself to stand tall. She set her head in a regal stare, though that was offset by her anxious smile. "I'm still adjusting to having four legs. And I'm a little nervous about my first lesson---actually, I've had trouble finding the school. Could you point me in the direction of the school for new ponies?"
